Hard as it may be to believe, I subscribe to the local newspaper. Today's Sunday edition included an article on "9 Bookstores worth writing home about," by Susan Glaser. None were in Cleveland. So, I am hoping that some of you can comment on the list, if you happen to live in the area. The bookstores on the list are:
Books & Books, Coral Gables, FL.
Politics and Prose, Washington, D.C.
Prairie Lights, Iowa City, IA
That Bookstore in Blytheville, Blytheville, AR
The Strand, New York, NY
City Lights Books, San Francisco, CA
Powell's City of Books, Portland, OR
Elliott Bay Book Company, Seattle, WA
Tattered Cover Book Store, Denver, CO
And, should I make it to your town in my travels, where would I find a good bookstore (not a chain)?
I'll start. If you find yourself in Cleveland, head to the east side, Chagrin Falls, and check out Fireside Book Shop. Other independent booksellers in Cleveland can be found here.

Has Duffbert ever been in The Strand? That place is awesome. I wonder whether Tom would have to change his underpants after walking in there.

When I lived in Atlanta there was a store whose name I can't remember that was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately it closed about 12 years ago. I was very, very sad.

@Duffbert - you are on!
@Nathan - thanks for the laugh!
@Charles - I wonder if the store closed due to the chains? They killed quite a few bookstores in Cleveland, well that and not adapting too well to the new competition.
