Location : Cleveland, OH
From my closet comes this little jem.
Back when there was a choice, SmartSuite or Microsoft Office (yes, kiddies, companies did have to make a choice on their office suites - back when dinosaurs ruled the lands), we went to the Executive Briefing Center at Lotus in Cambridge. I am guessing that this was about 1996. I really don't recall the year. But I do remember one executive that spoke to us, and nearly made the decision for us to go to MS Office. He was that bad and he was VP level (or higher).
One of the very nice parting gifts was this Lotus Collection sweatshirt. Which, as you can see, I still own and wear (sorry about the quality of the picture, I think I need some pointers).
We used to get a lot of nice schwag back in the day of high margins. Most of it I handed over to my wife, threw away, or gave to the kids. Not this. This I kept for myself. And as the years have passed, I can still remember the trip and some parts of the evening meal at a very nice Boston restaurant (the name escapes me).
The restaurant served me my first Black and Tan and I had carpaccio as an appetizer.
The trip? Not much to report on that as we didn't see a whole lot of either Cambridge or Boston. This is how it went:
Early flight from Cleveland to Boston
Taxi to Lotus
Meetings in one conference room for the entire day (did get to see the Charles - through a window)
Taxi to restaurant
Taxi to airport hotel
Early flight back to Cleveland.
I still remember that a co-worker told me, upon our return to the office, "It must have been nice to see Boston." Uh huh, in the dark, from the back of a taxi. It was spectacular.
And this is the physical remnant from that trip.

I had a slightly longer trip to Lotus Boston one year...
Fly from Dublin to Boston.
Sleep in Hotel over night
Taxi to Lotus
Meeting in conference room all day
Taxi to Airport
Fly back to Ireland
I do remember the flight crew on the plane was the same crew for both flights. They noticed also and served me a few extra free Guinness

Isn't travel glamorous?
You had Guinness on the flight and I had it at the restaurant. Life can be very, very good.
