Happy birthday to Apple. Thirty years ago today, two college dropouts filed papers to start a computer company. What started out of a garage has changed the way in which we use technology. Apple introduced the graphical user interface (GUI), changing the way in which we interact with the computer. While they have had their share of ups and downs, and they don't command a large market share of computers, they have kept their reputation for innovation.
Happy birthday, Apple!

Actually it was Xerox that invented the GUI concept. After discarding the project, it was aquired by Apple. Too bad they were not able to exploit it to the extent of Microsoft. I do not think anyone would mind taking home Mr. Gates paycheck, even with all their (Apple) visions (Macintosh, Eyepods...), he still reigns. Perception is everything.

Don, you are correct. But since Xerox had no idea what to do with all of the wonderful technology that PARC came up with, it took a visit from Jobs to implement that for his computer. I think that laser printers (in addition to Ethernet and the mouse) were also developed at PARC.
