For this one, however, I have several people that are using IE6 and IE7 and iNotes. If they address a message, they cannot fill in the subject or body fields and have to close the new memo, create another one, starting with entering the subject and body, then addressing the message. This is a major inconvenience to the users.
Or they have to use Firefox.
If I go another workstation, running IE6 or IE7, this isn't an issue. So, it appears that there is an Internet Option that is not set correctly on these specific workstations. But I am at a loss to find it.
I have deleted the cache and temporary internet files, to no effect. I have confirmed that the Domino server is a trusted server in IE. On the workstations that are running IE6, I have upgraded them to IE7, and that does not correct the issue.
But if I download and run Firefox, iNotes works fine. However, IE is their standard web browser, and I want to get it to work in IE.
A call to Lotus Technical Support, with support using screen sharing to see the issue, resulted in no satisfaction (very unusual for me) and the recommendation to use Firefox.
It's probably something little, and stupid, and I can't see it. Ideas or thoughts?
Thanks, in advance.

Which version of the Inotes template. Does this happen in the "Lite" or "Full" version of Inotes?

I've seen similar problems, affecting just one or a few workstations, but never found a fix.
1. It's pretty much impossible to fix IE once something gets damaged.
2. I suspect that various combinations of Windows updates and IE updates create slipstream code that you can't detect from Help - About.

@Elijah: Oh, good questions, I forgot about those. iNotes 8.0.2 and in the Full version. They do not use the Lite version, and I didn't think to test it in Lite.

My guess is you are using Domino 7, which has technotes posted about this problem.
Also check config of IE for scripting etc.. and update java to latest on each client. Enable popups in IE and well, disable almost all your security and it will work. If versions are correct.
iEnterprise is the only notes based CRM I am seeing at customers.

Gregg, while iNotes is a great option to have, I have found recently that the old school ways to clear things up just don't cut it. For years I've been able to use several bullet-proof techniques for clearing up this issue with DWA 6 and 7. Somehow, my post http://cwhisonant.blogspot.com/2006/04/domino-web-access-warning.html has slipped to #2 on a Google search, though...
But with iNotes 8 sometimes I just can't get IE to cooperate. Usually, as you stated, going to the latest version of FF will do the trick. So, it HAS to be browser-related. While this is a rare occasion, when IE won't cooperate it seems like nothing can work.
However, maybe you'll want to check a couple of other things:
- from my link above, verify spyware is gone, clear temp folders, and check out the info on HTTP 1.1
- see if the cumulative iNotes Hotfixes have been installed on the server - there could be some server-side bugs causing this problem:
8.0.1 - http://www-933.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/fixcentral/swg/identifyFixes/2/Lotus%20iNotes/8.0.1.0/All
8.0.2 - http://www-933.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/fixcentral/swg/identifyFixes/2/Lotus%20iNotes/8.0.2.1/All
8.5 - http://www-933.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/fixcentral/swg/identifyFixes/2/Lotus%20iNotes/8.5.0.0/All

Wow, thanks for all of the great ideas.
@Chris, I will be running the mail file maintenance tasks against one mail file tonight, as that is the easiest to perform. If that doesn't work, then I will follow your suggestions on the workstation. Finally, if neither of those work, I will have to recommend the Hotfixes, although from what I have read of them, they don't specifically address this issue (or I missed it).
I'll keep you posted.

No idea if 802 is still using ActiveX controls with IE, but I seem to remember back in 6-something, if that file had become corrupted or wouldn't install properly it led to inconsistencies.
I believe that Firefox doesn't use it, hence why this wasn't an issue with that browser.
Just an idea.
Cheers
