If there is one thing I am absolutely sick to death of, it is the pathetic rantings of die-hard Lotus Notes fanboys about how technically superior their product is, and how everyone else who isn’t drinking the IBM kool-aid is somehow incredibly “biased” and don’t understand Notes’ obvious superiority.
. . . I say this to make the point that I would LOVE to report on new deployments of Lotus Notes/Domino. I’m FASCINATED with the current state of enterprise collaboration (as geeky as that may sound) and I’ve been reporting on this space for the better part of a decade now, after working as a systems administrator on mail systems and other assorted and sundry items myself.
The problem is that I simply have not been able to find any new deployments of Lotus Notes/Domino in Australia at all for the past several years, so despite my best efforts to the contrary, I have to go on reporting new Exchange and Google Apps deployments — and even new Zimbra rollouts — because I simply do not know of any new Lotus ones.

For a "Lotus Fanboy," I find myself agreeing with many of his points. And, again as a "Lotus Fanboy," I do not agree that we don't blog about organizations moving to Google or Exchange, I have done so in the past. Usually, because the reported conversation rarely show that IBM was even considered (whether upgrading to Release 8.5.x or LotusLive).
So, if you work in Australia and know of an organization (100 seats or more) that is moving to Lotus Notes and Domino, contact the author and he will report it. Otherwise . . .
Thanks, @duffbert.

I've left a few comments for him to followup on.
I have 2 fairly large Australian customers who have just upgraded however unfortunately I can't name them Shame as there is some 30 - 35 K seats.

Michael: That happens quite a bit, everywhere. Even IBM will tell you that they have large accounts that have done "X" with Notes and Domino only that they are not allowed to say anything about it. However, we live in a world where the perception is that fewer organizations are using the software because no one can talk, on the record, about these things.
It is quite refreshing to read an article where the author will be happy to report on Lotus Notes and Domino deployments, if there are any willing to come forward.
Thanks for the comment.

An interesting article, obviously one too many criticism's hit his inbox.
But he is right that some times we can get overheated about choices.
The reality is someone will get him a client to talk to and he will have his story.
Does it change anything else? no
Perception is everything in this day and age.
