One of my (many) personality flaws is that I like looking at the newspaper's "Police Blotter." You know that section of the newspaper where you get to read about why your police/fire/emergency crews were sent out during the past week. Or where stuff was shoplifted, people were buying alcohol for underage drinkers, and so on. The Police Blotter in our newspaper contains the logs from several surrounding towns, so it gives me a chance to see what is happening in quite a few other area. This item piqued my interest, although I was not too surprised to read it. From this past week's Police Blotter:
Unfortunately, that is all the detail we get. I was wondering if the girl was ticketed (I certainly hope so).
Since reading the book Traffic: Why We Drive the Way We Do, I have changed my habits in the car. No longer do I think it is okay to text while driving. No longer do I answer the mobile phone while driving (even if I have a Bluetooth headset). Both of those activities now occur after I pull over. Or get to my next destination.
So, as you text while driving, please remember that to the officers of the law, it may appear that you are driving under influence (drifting, weaving, sharp corrections, etc.). Yes, you are a hazard to the rest of us on the road. Please stop.

TEXTING WHILE DRIVING, LAKE ROAD: Bay Village police assisted in the pursuit of a possibly impaired driver on Dec. 23, but upon pulling the girl over, officers determined she was texting while driving.
