One of the men in my son's squad gave me this, when I told him that I had never eaten a real MRE. According to him, the ones that you may find at surplus stores are humanitarian MRE's, which are different, and, according to him, much tastier. I've never eaten one of those, either.
There will be dessert in this MRE, he thought it would be a brownie. I asked about Charms hard candy, to which he replied that those have been removed from MRE's as they are viewed as "bad luck" by soldiers and, thus, were always thrown away.
I don't do food reviews, but this item may change that.
Technorati tag: MRE

As most soldiers know, MRE stands for Meal Refusing to Exit.
