Location : Cleveland, OH
Shortly after Lotusphere 2010 concluded,
planning for the Mid
West Lotus User Group Conference
began in earnest. That doesn't mean that there has been no work on the
conference prior to Lotusphere, but now we are really focusing on delivering
another information laden two day event. As announced last year, the dates
are August 19-20 and it will be in Cleveland.
Hotels have submitted proposals, and we have whittled them down to three alternatives. At this moment, the hosting site appears to be the Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland Downtown. The planning committee will be performing site visits in the coming weeks. For budgetary purposes, room rates look to be about $109-$119 per night (depending on the location).
For the Thursday Night Networking event, we are evaluating quite a few options. While the Rock Hall is not open late on Thursday, it is on Wednesday, if any early attendees want to visit.. We are also investigating a Cuyahoga River/Lake Erie cruise, access to the Great Lakes Science Center, and a private meeting/tour of Great Lakes Brewery, among others.
Shortly, a new, 2010 MWLUG web site will appear, with this information and more. At that point we will start accepting abstracts from potential speakers. Much like last year, we are expecting to run four breakout sessions at a time, so there is ample opportunity for new and experienced speakers to present. Also, similar to last year, we will be engaging local art schools and universities in a contest for the design of our on-site signage.
In all, the planning is moving along at a nice pace and you can expect another excellent conference from the participating User Groups in the Mid West.
