Social software - leaders understand that there is a cultural shift that needs to occur to be successful. Lotus Connections - early adopters help sell the solution. HSBC - "forget about the technology" Appreciate that people adopt at different speeds. Start with the executives. Launch it preloaded with data (immediate benefit). Welcome feedback (the wisdom of the crowd) and it helps to improve the adoption and use.
Practising Law Institute - Utilize new technology to improve training. "Vendors don't listen very well." Why Lotus? The business partner. "Have a plan" "Have a partner" "Be ready to change"
"Business Survivor" "If this fails, my next job will be in Lotus SmartSuite technical support" - Jeff Shick.Major dig at "Flare Point." The Lotus Tribe gets on stage and starts to demo Connections. If you are wondering who wins this little competition, you haven't been paying attention this week.
Mobile Access for Connections on any mobile device. Take the information with you. Click to call, learn about the contact or activity. Showed the use of SuccessFactors data embedded in Connections. "Microformats"
No announcements, but the fact that they took the demo out of the OGS and put it in this keynote was an excellent idea. Further, who would've guessed that they could fill the room. I was expecting less than stellar attendance Extremely well attended. And then there was the attitude. Much more relaxed and fun. Light and entertaining. I think that Lotus has hit on a winner; breaking out core parts of their catalog to their own keynotes. It helps to focus the message, gear it to a specific audience, and have some fun with it. Placing this in the OGS would have added to the length and the "noise."
I hope that Lotus continues this tradition.
