In addition to a lot of RAM (4GB) and a host of accessories, this particular notebook has a 60GB solid state drive. Very, very quiet. So much so, that it is a bit unnerving.
So, what did the D630 replace? A Dell Latitude CPi A. It was time for something new. :-)

Dude, that is sweet!! After installing Notes 8.5 and a good defrag, that SSD should REALLY smoke on loading Notes Standard...

Nice! I just got a new Dell Vostro 1510 with 4GB ram, an Intel Core 3 duo processor, and a 150GB hard drive. It's replacing a 5-year-old Medion notebook (sold exclusively at Aldi!) that was starting to sound like an airplane taking off...

@Esther - I was getting tired of turning on the CPi A and waiting about 10 minutes for the thing to boot. And, of course, there was the (supposedly) good natured comments from my peers.
@Chris - In addition to it being quiet, it loads extremely fast. And the software? Seems to launch almost immediately. There is a lot to be said for SSD. Oh, and while I haven't tried it, I am sure that I can drop the notebook and the SSD won't have any trouble.

That's one of the things that people fail to realize about Notes Standard - my Notes 8.5 folder has over 17,000 files (and I don't have many local NSF's). That's more than a base Win2K3 server install! Add a 4200 RPM laptop drive into the mix (though mine is 5400, but many laptops are still 4200...) and it's no wonder people complain about the speed - especially if there are tons of fragments in the Notes files!!

Did you get the built-in Wide are network card?
That's been a poplular add-in for all the D630s I've bought recently.
I really like the dark color on the inside, but shiny on the outside. Cuts down on the glare while using it...
Also, the accidental damage warranty is really good - one person dumped a glass of water on his and they drop shipped him a replacement after a 5 minute call.
Oh - don't dump a glass of water on it while it's on.
