One of my pet peeves with the developerWorks:Lotus
forums is the lack of any feedback from those that ask questions. Today,
I provided some links to the question:
We just changed ISP's along with new set of public IP's. Now we cannot send to both earthlink.net or mindspring.com - they both use same mx servers.
The NDR just says "SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error". Looking in the header I see "Status = 5.0.0".
Earthlink was less than helpful. We can send to any other domain. Any ideas how I can solve this problem?
TIA
Thanks to Rocky Oliver, Bruce Elgort, and Bob Balaban, I jumped into the Show-n-Tell Thursday posts. Mostly as another way to contribute to the community, but also to give me an outlet for some of the tips/tricks/issues that I experience. Some of those posts come in handy when replying to the questions on developerWorks:Lotus.
So, to answer the earlier question, I replied with:
DNSServer Notes.INI setting
and
SMTPClientDebug=1
Shortly after posting those links, Trey responded with:
Thank you, Gregg. the dnsserver entry did not help but eh SMTPClientDebug did. Showed that earthlink was blocking us:
08/11/2008 07:59:25 PM [13A0:0005-1588] SMTPClient: ReceiveResponse: 550 550 Dynamic/zombied/spam IPs blocked. Write blockedbyearthlink@abuse.earthlink.net
So I did a reaching backhand and slammed the ball back into their court.....now awaiting a response from them.
Thanks!! Tell Rocky hello!
I am very happy to see that there is a benefit in Show-n-Tell Thursday posts. And a big "Thank You" to Trey for closing the loop on that thread so that others may learn that SMTPClientDebug can help resolve some SMTP issues (I hope that he remembers to remove that line from the notes.ini so as not to fill up his Notes Log).
