ChannelWeb Network reports on the new Google Sites application. Nothing "new" there. But I am amazed at their statement from Microsoft's own partners about Sharepoint:
Microsoft partners maintain that SharePoint is one of the more profitable products for them because of the consulting and implementation required.
It may be time to broaden my horizons to fatten my wallet. :-)

Also interesting is the comment about revenue from Sharepoint for Microsoft:
Microsoft's Sharepoint revenue increased 35 percent in fiscal 2007 to more than $800 million and was on pace for $1 billion in the current fiscal year, according to the company. So it's hardly a surprise that Google is seeking to enter the market.
I calculate this as:
YEAR...................REVENUE (Million)............GROWTH
2006.....................$592 .................................35
2007.....................$800................................. 25
2008..................$1,000.................................. ?
I wonder how the revenue & growth of Lotus/IBM collaborative products (Domino, Quickr, Workplace, Connections etc.) did over the same period?

@Ian: I very much doubt that IBM will release individual numbers. One thing may happen; This could be a crowded space. But I am confident that IBM is positioned very well.
