The ITSO in conjunction with Lotus is conducting this remote residency to create a new deliverable that uses wiki technology. Wikis are a relatively new Web browser-based technology that allows remote collaboration to create a new form of on-line document. You can be a part of this leading-edge pilot for a new way of delivering quality technical documentation. Getting involved in this project will give you an opportunity to learn new collaboration tools and techniques, to learn more about developing Domino applications for the Web, and as with other ITSO residencies, to pass your knowledge to other IBM employees, business partners, and customers. Working alongside and exchanging knowledge with other highly skilled residents and some of the top experts in the IBM Lotus community, you will develop a competitive edge that will serve you well in successful deployment of creating and deploying Domino Web applications. In addition, you will get recognition for being an author of this wiki!
The focus of this residency is on creating and updating Domino 8 Web browser accessible applications. The goal is to provide tips and techniques to help users create attractive and easy to use Web applications. Best practices for application navigation, look and feel, code execution, taking advantage of additional features, and other related topics will be covered. The project will also look forward to Domino version 8.5 and highlight some of the changes coming that will enhance Web applications even further.
Topics to be covered include:
* Creating new Web applications
* Updating existing Web applications
* Extending rich client applications for Web browser use
* Navigation techniques
* Refining the look and feel
* Code execution
* Common tips and techniques
It is excellent news that IBM is moving forward with Lotus Residencies. I can't wait to see the results of this, so that we can all test out the new wiki concept. When they will release this into the wild is a guess, but the actual residency is only about 4 weeks. Hopefully, it will be released shortly thereafter, to answer some of the questions raised during the Meet The Developers session at Lotusphere.
