What is an admitted Administrator doing in this session?
Expanding my horizons, of course. :-)
Rob Wunderlich and Jason Hook put on a great session, which was very well attended. What is BP211?
Hear from two seasoned pros at delivering Lotus Domino databases to mobile devices. Updated from last year's popular session, this session will cover everything from syncing applications to browse to RSS as means to enable mobile devices. There will be lots of demos to show how it all works, so don't miss it!
Overview and thoughts:
- The demonstrated pushing of text and HTML to a Blackberry using a simple Notes form. Why would you do this? For sales data, Help Desk tickets, stock status, and more. It can be used to draw attention to something, anything.
- RSS feeds to the Blackberry
- SMS to a handheld, using a simple @MailSend. If you have a high priority help desk ticket, this would be a good way to notify a technician.
- Jason demonstrated his BBMetaBlog application to post to a blog based on the Blogsphere template. Extremely cool, especially since I really didn't "get it" when I first learned of it. It was a true collaborative effort between Jason and Declan (the author of the Blogsphere template).
- They asked for a show of hands of the bloggers in attendance and it was bout 5-10, not including Jason and Rob.
- When developing for a handheld, size matters, put your forms on a diet, and use keywords with few fill-ins.
Overall, a wonderful session with two extremely talented individuals.
The demo databases are on Jason's site.
