Christmas morning found the kids opening the box for the Air Hogs Battling Havoc R/C Helicopters.
In a few minutes, they figured out how charge them, fly them, the importance of the "trim" button, and the joys of small R/C helicopters. These babies are fun (but don't forget the six AA batteries)! They will require a little time to master controlling them, but don't let that sway you. If the kids have a little patience and can make small flight adjustments, using the controllers, they will bring hours of entertainment. Young and old. :-) From our flights, they seem to be pretty resilient to hard landings (ok, you can call them "crashes").
The "Battling" part means that they each have infrared "guns" that will shoot the other 'copter out of the sky (with sound effects). Actually, a "hit" on the other 'copter means that the tail rotor will stop spinning, and it falls to the ground. Depending on how high they were to start, you may be able to get it out of the crash before it hits the ground.
A lot of fun. And they would be excellent in a cubical farm, too. :-)
BTW - I see that Amazon is selling these for upwards of $250. Rest assured that I did not pay that much for them - they were about $65-70 for the pair. Most major retailers also stock single helicopters for about $25 (I don't think that the single helicopters are "battling").
