Location : Cleveland, OH
I've been taking my TomTom ONE with me every time I get in the car. Sure, most of the trips are ones that I do daily, but I like the TomTom telling me when I ought to arrive and make adjustments to the trip as I make unplanned detours.
Today, I had to go from the east side of Cleveland to the far west side. The only option for this trip is to use two major highways, one of which always seems to have an accident of some kind. The other problem is that there is a bridge that spans a valley, and traffic always slows as it crosses (I have no idea why, other than people are surprised that there is a large cloverleaf just past it). Today, there was an accident on the bridge, that took out the left two lanes. Traffic was backed up a good 5-8 miles. There was no way I was going to be on the west side in time.
Except I had the TomTom ONE.
I told it to ignore using the highway. So, it had me use city streets.
That isn't a real problem, except that it could be easy to get lost as I wasn't familiar at all with the area.
With the ONE helping me, I get around the traffic jam on the highway, pop out at the on ramp for another interstate, and get to my appointment "only" 20 minutes later than I expected to arrive. Not bad, considering that if I took the "traditional" route, I would have been stuck in traffic for a very long time.
I couldn't help but think back before I had the ONE I would have had to find a map, figure out where I was, and try to find a route. And then, as I was driving, try to continually refer to the map. Not good. And now? A few taps on the ONE and I was on my way.
I am definitely sold on GPS'.
