A while back, I posted on how to fix a Sametime issue when people discovered that they couldn't delete Sametime Groups (or the "Buddy List"). You can see the post here.
Since then, I have discovered that you can find out the group members before you delete the user document in vpuserinfo.nsf. Of course, the user could use the reliable paper and pen to write them down, but in lieu of that . . .
Open vpuserinfo.nsf on your Sametime server using your Notes client.
Open the Storage view.
Find and click on the user name of the person who's groups and members that you want to view.
Right click on the document, and select Document Properties.
Click on the field tab.
Find the field "0"
The right side of the field properties dialog box will now show the members of the group.
Before deleting the users' name from the Storage view, this might help you lessen the pain of recreating groups for the user.

Your link to the original post is broken....
vpuserinfo is pretty handy - I've had to remove entries in there before. Also, if you have a DWA user, you can do the following:
Open Mail file in NotesPeek
Expand Profiles
Expand sametimeprofile
Groups are in SameTimeGroupNameTemp
Users are in SameTimeUserNameTemp
Also, look at how these are stored as compared to the vpuserinfo and you can how it would be difficult to sync DWA buddies with Sametime Connect/Notes IM buddies...
And I first thought that the users and groups should be in the ones without "Temp" on the end, but I logged in and verified that my users were matching the ones in the Temp group.

@Chris - I fixed the link (thanks for pointing that out).
I agree, the more I work with vpuserinfo, the more secrets it reveals. I am sure that there is some Lotus person (or a blogger) that knows all of the tricks. It reveals itself like an onion, one layer at a time.*
