I have been remiss. What with all of the DST talk, I forgot to mention something about John Belushi.
Yesterday, March 5, 2007, was the 25th anniversary of the passing of John Belushi. He was (is?) one of my all-time favorite actors, singers, comedians, and movie stars. Many a college night was spent watching him on Saturday Night Live (SNL). When it was released, I saw Animal House three times. And I even remember when The Blues Brothers first appeared on SNL. It was all outstanding entertainment.

I own that shirt (okay, not THAT shirt, but one that is easily purchased). My kids asked me, "why are you buying a 'College' shirt, Dad?" I had to explain my fondness for John. And when wearing it, you can count on a certain demographic commenting on it. Everyone else? They need to spend some time with the Classics.
And I have to admit to seeing Continental Divide more than I ought to.
John, you were one of the best. Everytime I pop one of your movies in the DVD player, I can't help but feel angry at what we have lost. Yes, your movies make me laugh, your characters on SNL have stood the test of time, and your music lives on, but I cannot help but wonder 'what if.' And it makes me sad and angry. Twenty-five years and counting.
John, I miss you. Rest in peace.

Wow! How did I miss this? I honor him every year (but this one) on this date, plus I celebrate his birthday! I miss him too! I don't exactly condone how he died, but he was awesome!
