I needed to provide some network connectivity for the XBox360 in the basement. The wireless router actually provided a signal, but only to the bottom of the stairs, in the basement (tested it with my Palm). I figured some sort of Ethernet to wireless adapter. Not a problem, I would even put it in the ceiling of the basement, so that the network cable would be hidden. I figured cheaper and easier to do than to run a cable through the walls to the basement.
Looking at the choices at the local BestBuy, I ended up with a Netgear (for the record, I am not a fan of their stuff) XE102G Wall Plugged Ethernet Extender Kit.
This device is about the easiest networking device I have seen/used. Plug your ethernet cable in the bottom of the unit, and plug the other end into your Router. Then plug the device into a wall socket. Head off to the basement, where I plugged a cable into the base of a second unit and into the network port of the XBox. Then into a wall socket. Less than a minute later, I was getting an IP Address off of the Router and we were in business.
Pretty slick device.
