Do not bother calling me on Sunday evenings between 9 and 10:00 PM (EST). I will not answer. The best television is on that time, but only if you pay for it. I am talking about Deadwood. This show is only in its second season, and I look forward to every episode. The writing and the characters are spectacular. There is nothing like this show. Provided that you are not offended by the language. I keep wondering how HBO does it. The Soprano's, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, and this show. This is the reason for cable. In fact, a friend only gets HBO during the Deadwood season. Then he has them disable the cable. Only to sign up again when the season starts anew. If you haven't seen it, the first season is on DVD. I would highly recommend that you head out to your local video store and rent it. You will not be disappointed (I hope).
I have to admit, that while on the cruise, I missed two episodes. Thank goodness for the Video on Demand (since I am an HBO subscriber, I can watch all of the episodes that I have missed for free). Got the missing episodes, and got up to speed on the story and then just kept watching. I love that technology. I need it too, because Michael will call me on Tuesday to discuss the latest episodes, and I have to ready. Talk about an enabler.
Speaking of Video on Demand:
That is amazing. Over the broadband connection, I tell Comcast what I want to watch and in moments I am watching the show. I can pause, rewind, and fast forward these shows. All of that over the cable. While my neighbors are doing whatever it is that they do with their Video on Demand and cable modems. Amazing technology.
