There are times when a knowledge of search terms comes in handy. Today was one of those days.
Client requested that I upgrade one of their remote Domino servers. We spent yesterday copying the Domino 6.5.3 server code across the wire to the server. Today, I go to run the installation and I keep getting an error that said that there wasn't enough space on the C drive. Well, no kidding. There was only 100MB of space free on that drive. I TOLD the installer that I wanted to copy the temp files to the D drive. It wasn't listening. The error kept coming back that there was a space issue with C.
So, I jumped out to Notes Net to hope that there was a possible answer out there for me. Searching wasn't getting me anywhere, there were too many hits. So, I refined the search a little. Found the answer. Went out to the Command Prompt, did a couple of set temp= commands, and then ran the installer from the command prompt. Ahh, the sweet smell of success. Thanks go out to Jeff Mitchell for this post. That was the one that saved me. And the upgrade. Bottom line:
At the Command Prompt, type:
Set temp=<drive letter>:
Set TMP=<drive letter>
Then CD to the directory with the EXE in it.
Run the EXE from the Command Prompt, in the directory. The installer kicks off and does what it is supposed to do.
