Location : Cleveland, OH
The weather in Cleveland has made a turn for the better. Which makes me begin to think of warm weather pursuits. One of the long weekend vacations we took last year, and will probably do again this year, was to go to Put-In-Bay. We went last year at the beginning of the big health scare, which, according to the website, was due to contaminated water. Not a big deal if your thirst was quenched by bottled water or other bottled items. The best part about the weekend was that there were no crowds. I know that the businesses on the island took it tough, but for people like us, we pretty much had the entire island to ourselves. It was a great weekend. It is funny to think that there is a "resort" area around Cleveland. Not many people think about that. But there is. If you are ever in the area, or you are looking for a unique place to visit, Put-In-Bay or Kelly's Island are both good places to go. And if you like to bike, nothing beats pedalling around the islands. When the kids learn about the War of 1812, and the Battle for Lake Erie, they make the connection to Put-In-Bay. Nothing like adding a history lesson to a vacation. Oh, and if you are planning to visit the islands, make sure that you hit the links on the sites for ferry service. Other than private boats and airplanes, there aren't any other ways to get there.
And while we are travelling around Lake Erie, could you not get here and miss Cedar Point? Last year was the first one that we actually purchased a Season Pass. It is great to know that you don't have to do it all in a day, or even a couple of days. We could take our time. Made the time there more relaxing. Plus, if it got too busy, we would just leave. But then, if you have a pass to any park, zoo, or museum, you know what I am talking about. Having neighbors with passes made it better, as we would have people that we could go with, and the kids had friends to hang out with, not just Mom and Dad.
