At Christmas, I bought an iPod mini for my wife. It was extremely well recieved, and it made both my oldest son and I jealous. We both want one, now! Anyway, her old notebook is about 5 years old and was upgraded from Win98 to WinXP, without upgrading any other hardware. Ok, my bad. So, the iPod looks like it has "killed" it. Why? iTunes is darn s-l-o-w. And moving music from iTunes to the iPod is not happening, either. I have gotten errors pointing to the USB port being "unsupported," which to me means that this 5 year old machine is NOT running USB 2.0 or whatever it is now. So, basically the iPod killed the notebook that was destined to die sometime soon. I am sure that the poor thing was struggling with XP on the old hardware and the minimum RAM. I know I would be. Basically, the iPod is driving a new notebook. Not that she didn't need one. One good thing would be to redeploy that notebook to one of the kids, so that they can run some games on it. After all, that is the number one complaint I get from them, the fact that their Mac's can't run the same games as their friends'. But that is a post for a later date.
In the meantime, I have to look at new notebooks.
