If you live and work in the USA, today is the day that your taxes have to be sent in. Unless you get an extension. Better fire up the old TurboTax, or whatever you use, and get those papers off to the IRS. As an added service to you, my reader, here is a link the United States Postal Service, where you can get a list of Post Offices that are open until midnight, local time, so that you can get the needed April 15 postmark. And then you can breath easier until next year at this time.
While I am on the topic of taxes, I think that it is one thing to pay your taxes with deductions from your paycheck and quite another to pay them quarterly. If you really want to feel your tax bite, try paying your Federal and State taxes (if you live in a state with income taxes) on a quarterly basis. Yes, I know that you get the rollup of these on your paycheck, but if you didn't actually get the money, did you really earn it? Now, take the same tax bill, and pay it with a check four times a year. That would be money that you actually had, and now you don't. I think it makes you much more cognizant of your total tax bill. And you won't like it, or even less than you currently do.
