Based on what I can listen to, the answer for me is "Yes."
Last year, I bought Sirius satellite radio for my wife and had it installed in her car. After a few months of listening to it, she told me that I needed to get it. Well, we bought an S50 for my car, with a home dock so that we can listen to it in the house. So, why would you pay for radio? It's easy, no commercials (except a few stations do have some, like Howard Stern), you can listen to the same station from one part of the country to the other, and the list of channels is pretty incredible.
As we traveled to Myrtle Beach for our yearly family vacation, I listened to four hours of the Rolling Stones (Channel 98). When I started to get some grief from the others in the car, I flipped over to Classic Rewind, and got a nice mix of older rock. During a normal trip, I would be searching for stuff to listen to, or get the iPod going. Unfortunately, I am not listening to my iPod in the car much at all any more (with the exception being a certain podcast). The rest of the time, its Sirius. I hardly ever listen to traditional radio, this has everything I need, without the commercials.

I would agree on satellite radio. I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I travel a good bit for work and have had several rental cars with Sirius. Nothing like being able to listen to what you want to for as long as you want. Especially when driving long distances, you're not killing the miles hitting the seek button trying to find a decent station in between the commericals.
