Yesterday, I attended an organizational meeting for NEOLUG (North East Ohio Lotus Users Group). It has been a very long time since the last meeting of this group, and we now have a group of people* that want the new, improved NEOLUG to be THE Notes/Domino community for the area.
At the end of the meeting, we had all of the Officers selected, the topic for the first meeting (May 11, 11-1, at IBM's office in Independence), and a plan for moving forward. I don't think that it will be difficult to generate interest in the local Domino community for this group. There is a lot of talent in the area, we have access to some excellent IBM resources, and there are no shortage of vendors that would love to speak to the group. It doesn't hurt that there is still quite a bit of love left over from Lotusphere and the local Lotusphere Comes to You event. And I firmly believe that there is pent up demand for this group. It should be an easy sell to get people to attend - provided the topics are relevant. To gauge the topics of interest, we will be polling the attendees for future meeting ideas.
Here are my two selfish ideas for future meetings: OpenNTF and Genii Software
If you are in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton/Youngstown area, and want more information about NEOLUG, or require a User ID and Password for the QuickPlace, please e-mail neolug@extranet1.lotus.com.
* Disclaimer - I was elected (okay, volunteered) the Webmaster for the group (with a team of really smart people helping me).
