IBM is an example more than anything of how Congress has betrayed its constituents. As IBM continues to offshore and import labor it gets job creation credits for jobs created overseas. IBM is as unpatriotic an organization as has ever been. It is not Ginny to blame, or Sam.. it is the IBM employees themselves who continue to go to work in the morning, pretending it's all ok.. and do nothing.., they dont even have the balls to attend to a Union. IBM employees get exactly what they deserve.. unemployment.

His 2007 numbers differed widely and his predictions that IBM will collapse so far failed miserably. He just doesn't like IBM. I am sure in 2015/16, when IBM might still be going strong (I don't know) he will proclaim that it were his stories that made IBM change their strategy. Cringely remembers me a bit of Michael Moore. Not all wrong, not all true but always a good story to tell. Off-shoring is not an IBM phenomena. Whether it is good to put jobs overseas is something that would need more broader political and social discussions.

IBM seems to believe it is cheaper to replace a skilled worker with two or three unskilled workers to do the same job. That is like hiring nine women to make a baby in one month. While it looks good on paper it is not practical and is not working. The language barrier for IBM’s Indian staff is huge, for example. Troubleshooting, which was once performed on conference calls, is now done with instant messaging because the teams speak so poorly. Problems that an experienced person could fix in a few minutes are taking an army of folks an hour to fix. This is infuriating and alarming to IBM’s customers.
